The MU School of Law offers a collegial environment, reinforced by a small student body and a low faculty-student ratio. The intimacy of this setting, coupled with reasonable cost, consistently high bar passage rates, a network of alumni around the globe and access to top scholars in the legal world, make MU Law one of the best values in the nation.

Hi! My name is Ashton Botts, and I am beginning my third year of law school at Mizzou. I graduated from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri in 2010 with a degree in Rhetoric and Political Communication. While in undergrad, I spent a semester at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where I took courses in Constitutional interpretation and political journalism. I was fascinated by what I learned there, and when I returned to Missouri, I decided I wanted to go to law school.
As I researched law schools, I discovered Mizzou offers a dual degree program in law and journalism. From then on, there was no turning back. I am now on a four-year journey to obtain a JD and an MA in Broadcast Journalism. I hope to incorporate the skills I acquire in law school to become a legal analyst for a television news network.
Because William Jewell is such a small school, I was a little intimidated to make the transition to a campus with over 30,000 students. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find a perfect balance between an intimate classroom environment and a vibrant campus abuzz with energy and plenty to do!
If you have any questions about the dual degree program or the law school experience, feel free to ask! I would be happy to share any advice I can offer!
