Finding the right law school, is like finding the perfect shoe…everyone requires a different fit. My name is Chi-Chi Chukwu, and I am a 2L at the University of Missouri, Columbia. I am from Nigeria by way of Papua New Guinea and I acquired my undergraduate degree at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. During the course of my undergraduate career, I was a member of Students in Free Enterprise, Delta Epsilon Chi, Pre Law Club and the International Students Association. I enjoyed being an active member of the student body, and looked forward to doing the same in law school.
After graduating in 2006, I moved to Washington D.C. I enjoyed being on the east coast, and the summer preceding law school, I spent several weeks in California and loved that too!! I wasn’t really sure what I was looking for in a law school, but I knew that when I found it, I would know!
Mizzou was the most proactive school I applied to. When I called, I was greeted with familiarity, which was impressive and I received correspondence that was clearly personalized. I knew that coupled with tuition, I would have to consider living expenses as well when deciding on a school, and the cost of living in Missouri was far cheaper than that of most of the other states housing the top tier law schools.
Mizzou law school was a perfect fit for me. Being surrounded by a faculty and staff actively vested in my success made my 1L year so much easier. The students are similarly friendly, everyone willing and eager to help along the way.
I enjoy volunteering, fashion, music, travelling and dancing and contrary to popular belief, Missouri does offer all that and more!! I look forward to hearing from you, and hope your ultimate decision is as good for you as Mizzou is to me!
