James C. Oldham, a neutral arbitrator will hear an appeal of of the NHL Commissioner’s decision to uphold a 20-game suspension for a player who had contact with referee. Oldham, is a professor at Georgetown School of Law and past president of the National Academy of Arbitrators (NAA). It is the first appeal of its kind. It was recently that the collective bargaining agreement provided  a player the right to go to a third-party arbitrator for such a situation.
