Intra-School Mock Trial Competition

The Board of Advocates is excited to announce its annual Intra-School Mock Trial Competition! We will be hosting an informational meeting on Monday, February 8 at 1 pm in room 6. The actual competition will take place February 22nd – 25th. This is the last all-school competition BOA will host. Teams will consist of four (4) members. No more than two (2) of those members can be a member that has competed in the past on either Mizzou Law’s competitive trial teams (Thurgood, TYLA, Labor and Employment, or AG’s Cup) or arbitration team. If your team has limited experience, you have the option to be assigned a 3L who will serve as mentor/coach. If you do not have a team in mind, you can sign up as an individual and will be placed with other individuals who are also looking for a team to join. Sign-ups will be posted today, February 1st outside the BOA office. Make sure you denote whether you opt in for a mentor/coach or not. Space is limited as we only have room for 12 teams. The problem is a criminal case and can be found attached to this email. Questions can be answered either by emailing BOA directly, or at the info meeting. Find the case here:...

Mock Trial Finalists Argue Before Esteemed Panel of Judges – September 15, 2013

In the Courtroom of Hulston Hall on September 15, 2013 at 2:00 PM, the top advocates from the 2013 Mock Trial Competition at the University of Missouri School of Law test their advocacy skills before the Honorable Matt. J. Whitworth, Chief Counsel of Litigation for the Missouri Attorney General’s Office Joel Poole, and experienced trial lawyer Angela Drake. This is a great opportunity to gain exposure to BOA competitions at Mizzou Law. BOA Competitions, such as Mock Trial,  help law students develop and hone their oral advocacy skills by having sitting judges and practicing attorneys assess and score competitors’ performance.  This serves as a unique and practical learning experience not only for competitors, but for anyone who has the opportunity to hear three accomplished legal professionals provide suggestions and feedback about effective advocacy....
