National Trial Team Success!

For the first time in Mizzou Law history, Mizzou advanced to the quarterfinals of the National Trial Competition sponsored by the Texas Young Lawyers Association in Dallas, Texas. There are over 300 mock teams that compete in the nation. Mizzou won their Regional Trial Competition in February 2016. The team then advanced to the National Trial Competition along with 27 other teams. While at Nationals, Mizzou was named Top 8 in the Nation! National Trial Competition Team Advancing to Nationals!

For the first time since 1995, a team will be competing at the National Trial Competition in Dallas, TX. This competition is sponsored by the Texas Young Lawyer’s Association and takes place March 30th-April 3rd. The top two teams from each regional competition advance to nationals. Ben Marble, Kayla Meine, and Kayla Kemp won the regional competition hosted at UMKC last weekend. Mizzou Law sponsored two teams at the regional competition.  Open to all law students, the Mock Trial Competition provides students an opportunity to implement classroom theory through simulating the trial process. Teams of four develop a litigation strategy based on a given problem and then present their case before a panel of lawyers and judges. The competition allows law students to develop and hone courtroom skills such as: witness preparation, direct examination, and cross examination.
