Harrell came to Columbia in 1868, where he established a tailoring business. He lived in the house until his death in 1903, having willed the property to his son, George Harrell Jr. |

The house is an excellent example of Victorian era architecture. The fact that it has stood for over 100 years is a testament to the quality of the building. |
