In our first class on Thursday, 1/12, we will review some of the basic principles of insurance law in preparation for our closer look at claims processing and dispute resolution in the insurance industry. In preparation for this first class, read the following sections in Understanding Insurance Law (“UIL”): 1, 10, 13A, 13B, 13C, 25A, 25C, 25E, 35[a] through and including 35[e].
During the first one-third of the course (beginning with the class on Tuesday, 1/17), we will study insurance law principles that pertain to claims processing and dispute resolution in the insurance industry. These principles are listed in the Syllabus that appears on the TWEN site. In the last two-thirds of the course, we will work through a simulation that involves the application of these principles. In this simulation, you will play the role of an attorney.
