Our first class meeting will be Thursday, January 16, at 9:00 in Room 109. The required materials for the course include Dessem, Pretrial Litigation: Law, Policy and Practice (3d edition) and Stern, The Buffalo Creek Disaster, both of which can be purchased at the University Book Store. In addition, students should purchase the set of photocopied materials for our course at the Quick Copy Center at Brady Commons (which should be available at the Quick Copy by January 17). During the course of the semester, students also should have access to the most recent version of both the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Federal Rules of Evidence.

For our first class on January 16, please read pages 1-9 (chapter 1) in the pretrial litigation text. For our second class on Tuesday, January 23, please read Chapter 2 in the text (pages 10 - 53) and Part I of The Buffalo Creek Disaster (pages 1-97).
