"I felt valued even before I arrived, which told me that I could be quite successful here."
With the long-term goal of attaining financial freedom and making a better life for his family, Darrion entered law school because he felt it would teach him the skills and equip him with the resources he would need to make his goal a reality. The experiences came quickly. His participation in advocacy competitions enriched his interest in First Amendment and Media Litigation, specifically strategic communications and crisis management. Law school has taught him to streamline his thoughts and analytically approach problem solving. Involvement in several organizations including Phi Alpha Delta, the Black Law Students Association and MU Law Ambassadors offers Darrion the chance to network and socialize while instilling within him the ability to stay grounded and see multiple sides of an issue. He was impressed by the diversity at Mizzou and pleased that diversity at Mizzou Law went beyond ethnicity. He appreciates that the groups on campus often work together to encourage open and respectful dialogue of polarizing topics.
