VITA Program Information Session

February 4 @ 1:00 pm - 1:50 pm

Will Drath, an attorney with a master’s in taxation from the University of North Carolina, is the nonresident tax specialist for Mizzou.  He will speak at an information session on Mizzou’s international Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

The University of Missouri provides tax assistance to international students and faculty at its Facilitated Self-Assistance site. This is a great opportunity to help folks who are completely unfamiliar with U.S. tax law, and is also a chance to broaden your knowledge of taxation. You will receive training in the substantive law via an online course provided by the IRS, and Drath will make sure you are trained to work the clinic itself.

Volunteering to work this clinic offers a chance to learn:

1)      General nonresident tax law

2)      Tax treaty analysis

3)      IRS forms (1040NR, 8233, W-8BEN, etc…)
