Professor Hunvald has been a member of the law faculty since 1957. He taught at the Judge Advocate General's School in Charlottesville, Virginia, and at the Harvard Law School as a Teaching Fellow.

He served as the reporter for the Committee to Revise Missouri's Criminal Law and as Chairman of the National Conference of Bar Examiners Criminal Law Committee. He has been a visiting professor at the University of North Carolina, University of California, Hastings, and the University of Maryland.

Professor Hunvald is a member of the Missouri Supreme Court Criminal Procedure Committee and has published in the fields of criminal procedure, criminal law and evidence. He teaches Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Evidence.
