Selma Moidel Smith Law Student Writing Competition
DEADLINE: May 1st, 2013 (Entries received after deadline will be considered only at the discretion of NAWL)
TOPIC: Issues concerning women’s rights or the status of women in the law
AWARD: Cash prize of $500 and essay will be published in NAWL’s Women Lawyers Journal in the summer of 2013
ELIGIBILITY:
- Must be a law student enrolled in the 2012-13 school year
- Essay must be an original work and not submitted for publication elsewhere
- Papers written for school credit are eligible
FORMAT:
- MUST provide a cover letter including: title of essay, school affiliation, email address, phone number and mailing address
- Double-spaced, 12-point font, Times New Roman
- Margins must be at least one inch
- Cannot EXCEED (15) pages of text (excludes notes, with footnotes and placed as endnotes)
- Citations should conform to: The Bluebook-A Uniform System of Citation
JUDGING CRITERIA:
Content, Exhaustiveness of Research, Originality, Writing style, and Timeliness
SUBMISSION:
Entries must be received by May 1st, 2013 via electronic version (Microsoft Word or PDF format) to jmartin@stu.edu
