Apropos of our discussion on Tuesday with regard to the use of celebrities and their personas in the context of advertisements: the good folks at Spirit Airlines have decided to run what they are calling PEDs (Price Extravaganza Deals, rather than the more common use of PEDs as "performance enhancing drugs") and are having some fun by advertising that if you take advantage of their PED's, you'll improve your travel performance and have "A-Rodiculously Great Time."

I'm sure this advertisement has thrilled Yankees third baseman and perpetual playoff disappointment Alex Rodriguez to no end. See the ad below; should he be able to prevent this?

Here's another advertisement, this one from last year and in even worse taste. It's an ad run by a New York area health club, using the likeness and first name of cooking show host Paula Deen (who at the time had just been diagnosed with diabetes):
