The summer is fast approaching and now is the time to prepare to rock your summer job. Classroom to Workplace is a week-long event geared to helping law students prepare to practice. Sessions are scheduled for Monday through Friday and are planned to help you know what to expect in your summer jobs.

This program highlights many of the free and discounted services and products offered to Missouri Bar members that will help them practice more effectively and efficiently. Topics include economic solutions, practice management resources, and how to get involved in the bar and network with colleagues. Learn how to take advantage of opportunities to get your name and practice out there, secure referrals, and find new clients, as well as how to take advantage of the many benefits of being a member of The Missouri Bar.

Come get the inside scoop from students who have traveled the road ahead of you.  Learn what it is really like to work at law firms and how to make a smooth transition and avoid the traps and pitfalls of the summer law clerk experience.   Lunch is provided.

"Did That Just Happen?" Recognizing and Dealing with Sexual Harassment in the Profession

Whether you are a man or a woman, it could happen to you!  What would you do?  The legal profession is not always professional.  Some men and women act badly and people’s careers and emotions are damaged.  There are often situations when an attorney is subject to a suggestive comment, a flirtatious statement, or an inappropriate joke.  Are those instances of sexual  harassment?  When nothing egregious has happened, where is the line drawn?  What happens when someone clearly crosses the line?  Don’t inadvertently become a perpetrator.  Come and join what promises to be a lively discussion with seasoned professionals about their experiences of and observations about one of the seedy sides of the profession.

2013 Missouri Bar Course on Professionalism
Rm. 7

This annual program is designed for 3Ls planning to become members of the Missouri bar to assist you in obtaining two free credit hours of ethics and professionalism Continuing Legal Education.  Rule 15.05(e) requires all newly admitted attorneys to receive 2 credit hours of ethics and professionalism CLE within 12 months prior to or following admission to the bar, so attending this presentation will fulfill that requirement.  Judge Leslie Schneider will discuss a lawyer’s obligation to the Court and to the judicial system; Jason Pauslmeyer will be addressing challenges specific to new lawyers; Melinda Bentley will discuss ethics and professionalism; and Anne Chambers will provide an overview of resources available from the Missouri Bar related to Professionalism, Self-Care, Law Practice Management, and the MOLAP Program.  The Missouri Bar Young Lawyers Committee will be providing “Bar Exam Survival Kits” to help you get through the approaching bar exam.
