Law Faculty Services - Research Services

Document Delivery
The Law Library provides copy and retrieval services for items held at the Law Library and other campus libraries. To use this service law faculty can send an e-mail to: umclawdocdelivery@missouri.edu.

SHB Research Associates
Through the generosity of Shook Hardy & Bacon, the library has a pool of Research Assistants available for law faculty for short term research projects. This program is designed to supplement (not replace) a personal RA. The SHB Research Assistants are available on a first come, first serve basis. Please contact Cindy Shearrer to inquire about this service.

Research support for your RA
Career Services can help you in advertising for an RA, or in identifying students to contact about a position. If you decide to hire a personal RA, the Law Library can provide resources to help them be effective, including training, access to secure storage of materials in a study room, library proxy card, printing instructions and more.

Librarian Liaison
Law faculty members are assigned a personal librarian who will assist with any library matters. Contact Cindy Shearrer to inquire about this service.

Current Awareness
Law faculty may have current journals, newsletters, and other current awareness items routed to their office. Contact Needra Jackson (573-882-9675) for information about routing services for print resources and Cindy Bassett (573-884-9150) for information on alerts in electronic resources. SmartCILP provides weekly email notices of new articles in your field. Contact Cindy Shearrer (573-882-1125) to set up your customized account.

Westlaw and Lexis
Contact Cindy Bassett (573-884-9150) with questions regarding Westlaw and Lexis passwords. The law faculty printers for these databases are located in Room 332 (PDF map).

Databases
Many electronic resources are available to law faculty both on campus and off. See the Resource Guide for New Faculty for information on accessing these resources on and off-campus. If you do inter-disciplinary research, you'll want to explore the full range of databases available to all MU Faculty through Ellis Library.
