This week at the Law School, there are two events for students interested in Public Service.  On Monday, November 5th at 1:00 in Room 3, take time out of your busy schedule to attend “Public Service:  Federal Employers Panel”.  A panel consisting of legal counsel from various federal agencies in Kansas City will talk about their jobs and how they practice law within their agencies.  Attorneys attending are from the following agencies:  US Department of Labor, Counsel for Occupational Safety & Health; US Department of Health and Human Services, Office of General Counsel; Environmental Protection Agency, Office of General Counsel; and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Business Crime Unit.  The panel will be moderated by 3L Lauren Collins.  Anyone considering the federal government should attend this event.  Not only will  Career Component and Professional Perspective Credit be offered, but pizza will be provided.  RSVP on Symplicity!

On Wednesday, November 7th, we will host a special video conference from Washington, DC with Attorney Advisor Sarah Prosser, who will talk on “Dispelling the Myths of Public Service” at 1:00 in the Jury room.  Ms. Prosser works for the Office of the Legal Adviser, U.S. Department of State in DC.  She has worked in the Legal Adviser’s offices for Human Rights and Refugee Affairs; East and South Asian Affairs; and Afghanistan, Pakistan, South and Central Asian Affairs, and she is currently in the Legal Adviser’s office for Nonproliferation and Verification.  She served as a clerk for the Honorable Virginia A. Phillips, U.S. District Court, Central District of California.  She has worked for the U.S. Agency for International Development in Kazakhstan and was a volunteer for the U.S. Peace Corps in Uzbekistan.  She holds degrees from Harvard Law School, the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, and Duke University.
