This week at the Law School, first year students (1Ls) will have opportunities to hone their intervieiwing skills. On February 4th at 1:00 in Room 7, the Career Development Office will repeat the January 23th presentation on “OCI Interviewing Skills”. The workshop will go over the ins and outs of on-campus interviewing, including: types of questions to expect, how to prepare, strategies for putting your best foot forward, common “wrong” answers to avoid, and follow-up etiquette regarding call-back interviews, thank you notes, and offer acceptance. All first year students who plan to continue to participate in on-campus interviewing must participate in one of the interviewing sessions.
On Wednesday, February 6th, students will have the opportunity to practice their interviewing skills and have lunch with attorneys representing firms and organizations outside the traditional “big firm” setting at the Small Firm Mock Interview Program: Q & A Interviewing Skills. The event will begin with lunch at 1:00 in the Courtroom. Students can visit with and listen to the panel of interviewers provide tips and experiences. Following lunch, students can sign up for mock interviews with the attorneys to practice and hone their interviewing skills. This is also a wonderful networking opportunity! RSVP throught Symplicity is required. This event is the fourth and last opportunity for first year law students to attend a session that will qualify them for participation in on-campus interviewing.
Also on February 6th, students have the opportunity to participate in a free CLE in Kansas City related to Landlord-Tenant Law. Scholarships for students are available though Sterling Education.
