This week at the Law School there are many events planned that you won’t want to miss!
Are you trying to find the right practice area? Are you unsure about how you want to use your law degree? If so, you will want to attend Finding Your Career Niche on Tuesday, April 16th at 1:00 in room 3. Learn the importance of identifying your personal values, aptitudes and aspirations, and how to translate these into practice areas and career paths that will be rewarding. The workshop qualifies for Professional Perspectives or Career Development credit and Pizza will be provided. Please RSVP in Symplicity for this interesting event!
The Career Development Office will be taking interested student to the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association meeting on Wednesday, April 17th from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm. Professors Phil Peters & Josh Hawley will do a joint presentation on the Affortable Care Act. The group will also visit the law firm of Carnahan, Evans, Cantwell and Brown for a networking opportunity. Transportation and lunch will be provided, but space is limited so be sure to RSVP through Symplicity.
The Diversity Committee will present the documentary, The Invisible War, on Friday, April 19th from 2:00 to 4:30 in the Courtroom. The 2012 documentary film written and directed by Kirby Dick and produced by Amy Ziering and Tanner King Barklow is about sexual assault in the United States military. It premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, where it received the U.S. Documentary Audience Award. The film was nominated for Best Documentary Feature at the 85th Academy Awards.
