Monday, October 28th at Mizzou Law, starts a week full of interesting activities. Students will have an opportunity to join Professor English’s Estates & Trusts class on Monday for a special event “Estate Planning and Elder Law Careers“. Take advantage of the event to hear three top-notch estate planning and elder law attorneys speak about their practices; Rudy Beck, ’74, Andrew Felker, ’10, and Jessica Rooks, ’12. Not only will food be provided, but the event has been approved for Career Development and Professional Perspectives Credit. The event begins at 10:30 am and ends at 11:50 am in room 5.
If the timing of the event does not match your schedule, you will be able to hear Rudy Beck ’74, talk about his Elder Law practice later on Monday the 28th, from 2:00 to 2:50 in the Courtroom. Career Development and Professional Perspectives Credit will also be available for this event.
On Tuesday, October 29th, students interested in corporate and transactional law have the opportunity to hear about an exciting externship here on the Mizzou campus. The Missouri Innovation Center and the law firm, Polsinelli, have teamed up to offer a credit-bearing experience to law students that affords them the opportunity to provide legal services to start-up companies in the Life Sciences Incubator Program while receiving supervision from experienced corporate lawyers at Polsinelli. Attorneys Cortney Mendenhall ’05 and Michael Williamson along with past and current externs will be on hand to talk to students about this unique program at the Missouri Innovation Center Tour and Externship Informational Session from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Join Dean Key for a fun networking event in Kansas City, Association of Women Lawyers’ Past Presidents’ Reception. The event will be at Harvey’s in Union Station, 30 W. Pershing Rd. This reception, held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 29th, is well-attended by judges and practitioners and is a wonderful way to make some important contacts in Kansas City. If you would like a ride, staff from the Career Development Office will be leaving from the law school at 2:45 pm and will be returning around 9:15 pm. Third year law students planning to take the Missouri Bar are highly encouraged to attend a special event designed for them, Bar Application Q & A, in the Courtroom on Friday, November 1st from 1:00 pm to 1:50 pm. Join Joseph Figo, Executive Director of the Missouri Board of Law Examiners, to learn about the MO Bar application process. He will share information and answer questions to help prepare for the lengthy application process. Professional perspectives credit will be offered, so please RSVP through Symplicity.
