On Wednesday, January 29th, “Interviewing for 1Ls with Edward Jones” will be held at 1:00 to 1:50 in the Courtroom. Come hear Edward Jones’ legal and compliance department recruiters and members of their hiring committee discuss the “Do’s and Don’ts” of interviewing. From behavioral interviewing techniques to identifying ways to stand out in a sea of qualified applicants, these experienced professionals have seen it all, and would like to share the benefit of their wisdom and expertise with you. This interactive informational session is designed to give you some helpful tips before this spring’s interviewing season to help you succeed in landing a summer job. This is the last opportunity for 1Ls to fulfill the interview requirement. Pizza will be provided so be sure to RSVP in Symplicity by January 27th by noon.
Also on Wednesday, January 29th, we have another interesting event, “Public Service: Federal Employer Panel” at 1:00 to 1:50 in room 7. Come hear about legal jobs with the federal government. A panel consisting of legal counsel from various federal agencies will talk about their jobs and how they practice law within their agencies. Agencies attending include: Bureau of Prisons, Transportation Security Administration, CIS – National Records Center, CIS – National Benefits Center, and ATF – Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Pizza will be provided so please RSVP through Symplicity. Career Component and Professional Perspective Credit will be offered.
Legal Aid of Western Missouri will host a Diversity Open House on Thursday, January 30, 2014. They invite diversity student to talk, drink, and have a bite to eat with legal aid attorneys and staff. Learn about the rewarding and exciting work they do at Legal Aid of Western Missouri. Erika Fadel from the Career Development Office will be traveling to Kansas City with interested students. First year law students will want to save this date, Monday, February 3rd. The Crahan Fellowship Informational Program will be held in the Courtroom from 1:00 to 1:50. The Judge Lawrence G. Crahan Memorial Judicial Fellowship provides a financial award for MU law students to serve as judicial interns to a judge of the Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District. The fellowship will run for 8 weeks following the completion of the first year of law school, and 1L students in the top 25% of the class are eligible to apply. This fellowship is made possible through the generosity of Ms. Linda S. Legg, currently retired, the former Senior Vice-President, General Counsel, and Secretary of AT&T Advertising Solutions. Students will hear details about the fellowship, and hear from Judge Glenn Norton (’85) and previous fellows about the experience. Lunch will be provided so please be sure to RSVP. Career development & professional perspectives credit will be available.
