Missouri State Senator Joseph Keaveny invited Prof. Rod Uphoff and Prof. Paul Litton to hold a seminar in the state capitol for legislators and other stakeholders to explain the need for criminal procedure reforms proposed in Senate Bill 732. The bill aims to minimize wrongful convictions and follows recommendations made by the American Bar Association’s Missouri Death Penalty Assessment Team, on which both professors served. SB 732 would reform eyewitness identification procedures used by law enforcement, require the preservation of biological evidence secured during investigation of serious crimes and amend state law regarding the videotaping of custodial interrogations.
