
Currently awaiting action by Gov. Jay Nixon, ’81, a new school transfer bill would modify the current law by allowing students in unaccredited school districts to not only transfer to adjoining accredited districts but also to private, non-religious schools. In an interview with Missourinet.com, Prof. Brad Desnoyer discussed the constitutionality of the proposed law. He also stated that the governor’s best argument for vetoing the bill is a little known constitutional provision that the Governor’s Office may have missed.
