Prof. Doug Abrams was named to the six-member board of directors of the MomsTEAM Institute. The Boston-based organization continues MomsTEAM’s “fourteen-year mission of providing comprehensive, well-researched information to youth sports parents, coaches, athletic trainers, and other health care professionals about all aspects of the youth sports experience.” The information is provided by a world-class team of expert psychologists, nutritionists, athletes, medical doctors, journalists, coaches, referees and parents.” For example, MomsTEAM was one of the earliest voices warning about the dangers of youth sports concussions and has remained in the forefront of the national discussion.
MomsTEAM has produced several films, including a recent one-hour documentary, “The Smartest Team: Making High School Football Safer,” which has received positive reviews from showings on various Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) television stations.
Prof. Abrams has served on MomsTEAM’s Team of Experts since 2010.
