Disparate Impact Claims an Important Legal Option: Professor Oliveri

Professor Rigel Oliveri recently had an opinion piece published in The St. Louis Post-Dispatch about the Supreme Court’s review of “disparate impact claims,” or actions that are superficially non-discriminatory but do “disproportionately (harm) members of one racial or ethnic group” without evidence, Professor Oliveri wrote.

She argued in the editorial that disparate impact claims are an important legal option to battle discrimination. The Supreme Court’s ruling in the case Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs v. The Inclusive Communities Project will consider the question of whether disparate impact claims can be brought under the Fair Housing Act, Professor Oliveri wrote.
