October 21st, 2015

Board of Advocates

The School of Law Board of Advocates recently concluded its 2015 Client Counseling Competition. Thirty-six students participated as attorneys and others volunteered to play the role of clients. Judging the competition were practicing attorneys.

According to BOA, the competition simulates an initial attorney-client interview. Two-person teams must work to understand a client’s legal position and advise the client with possible courses of action. The competition in general is meant to help law students fine-tune interpersonal and communication skills necessary to build rapport with clients.

Congratulations to first-place team 2L Maikieta Brantley and 2L Cailynn Hayter, and second-place team 1L Emma Tracy and 1L John Brooks.
