Prof. Philip G. Peters Jr

Professor Philip Peters Jr. was recently quoted in a St. Louis Post-Dispatch article on the Missouri Stand Your Ground Law as it related to a recent act of gun violence in St. Louis. Three boys were breaking into an unlocked car when the owner of the car shot and killed one of the boys. The owner was arrested but released when prosecutors didn’t file criminal charges. Professor Peters discussed the Stand Your Ground Law and the implications surrounding the use of lethal force.

“He still has to show a reasonable fear that he was in danger from the imminent use of unlawful force,” Peters said.
