Dean Myers to Return to Faculty

June 1st, 2016

Dean Gary Myers

Dean Gary Myers recently announced that he will step away as dean of the School of Law in August.

Dean Myers, who has served as dean of the law school for four years following 23 years as a faculty member at the University of Mississippi School of Law, says that in his absence, the law school will continue to build on its many strengths.

During his tenure as dean, the law school established a Center for Intellectual Property & Entrepreneurship, a Veterans Clinic and an Entrepreneurship Legal Clinic; upgraded classroom facilities, hired outstanding faculty, and expanded scholarship offerings to prospective and current students.

Dean Myers will work on two book projects and various interdisciplinary initiatives in the new academic year.

University of Missouri Provost Garnett Stokes has named Kenneth D. Dean, ’76, as interim dean, effective August 15, 2016. He currently serves as the university’s senior associate provost and as an associate professor emeritus of law. A national search for a permanent dean will commence this summer.
