On April 14, the Mizzou Women’s Law Association will host a symposium, “The Evolution of Women in the Law: From Where We Were to Where We Are Going.” The goal of the symposium is to create networking opportunities for students and attorneys from across the state, to discuss the challenges women face in the Missouri legal field, and to consider what future implementations should be made to overcome those challenges.

The symposium will consist of three parts. The first panel will consist of female pioneers who overcame adversity to advance the role of women in the profession. The second panel will feature three women on the Joint Commission on Women in the Profession; they will explain the work the commission has done since its inception in 2013 and what changes they want to see to grow the role of women. The final piece will be a keynote address from Judge Mary Rhodes Russell, ’83, of the Supreme Court of Missouri about the importance of female representation in the legal field. Between panels, there will be a lunch and networking session.

This event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Reynolds Alumni Center on the University of Missouri campus. The cost is $15 and includes lunch. For more information or to register, please visit this website.
