Students Conduct Mock Symposium on Dispute System Designs

Students in Professor S.I. Strong’s Dispute System Design class recently completed a mock professional symposium that was open to all in the law school community. Several law faculty and non-DSD students attended the event. Presenters considered a wide variety of disputes.

Topics included improving Major League Baseball arbitration (3L Nick Beulick and LLM Terry Poole), creating a disputes protocol for the National Football League (LLM Brian Chihera and 3L Dennis Jones), resolving disputes arising in refugee camps (LLM Sisonke Dyonta and 3L Sarah Grossman), consumer disputes in the 21st century (LLM Md. Harun-Or-Rashid and 2L Don Quinn), multi-district litigation and the pharmaceutical industry (LLM Ali Alfahal and 3L Dan Bryar), small- and medium-sized countries in World Trade Organization disputes (LLMs Ivan Mugulusi and Patrick Pryor), housing disputes involving victims of domestic violence (LLM Elizabeth Kaganda and 3L Emily Crane), and disputes involving nursing home evictions (2L Matthew Hodgson).
