Hello All! My name Ayana Shiggs and I am currently a 1L here at Mizzou Law. I was born and raised in Brunswick, Georgia, which is a small town about forty-five minutes south of Savannah, Georgia. I attended Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, which is the oldest all women’s college in the United States. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.
As long as I can remember, I knew that I wanted to attend law school. The process of applying was stressful because I wanted to attend a small law school and somewhere where I felt like I belonged. After weighing my options and attending the LSAC Law School Forum in Washington D.C I decided to visit Mizzou. As soon as I stepped onto Mizzou Law’s campus that windy day in March, I knew I had found the school I had been looking for. Everyone was so approachable and welcoming that I knew I had officially found my home for the next three years.
Ultimately, I chose Mizzou for my legal education because of the individuals within the law school. I am sure that many of you have heard that law school is this scary and competitive place but Mizzou is the exact opposite. Everyone from the faculty, students and the admissions staff are honestly willing to do anything within their power to help you succeed. Even though I am just a 1L, I can already tell that I will be provided with a plethora of opportunities because of this institution. So please do not count Mizzou Law out!
Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions about Mizzou, the application process, or the law school experience in general! Go Tigers!
