Truman State University
My name is Bradley Craigmyle, and I am a 3L from Shelbyville, Mo. For those of you who don’t know, Shelbyville is a rural farming community in northeast Missouri – the whole feeding America thing. I played baseball for two years at John Wood Community College prior to transferring to Truman State, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English. You’re probably wondering how I survived two years in Kirksville, but I absolutely loved Truman and was a member of the Student Activities Board both years.
I was really indecisive when choosing where to go to law school, and I applied to several institutions. I chose Mizzou for two main reasons – the affordability and the political connections within the state. After talking to a few people who had incurred a fair amount of law school debt, it became very apparent that was something they wished they could have avoided. The competitive pricing at Mizzou will give me the flexibility and freedom to do things that may not have been financially feasible had I gone elsewhere. During my last semester of undergrad, I interned at the Capitol in Jefferson City, and I thoroughly enjoyed the social atmosphere of the building. Realizing that is something I may want to pursue, it only made sense to attend law school at Mizzou where I could make connections within the state.
What I enjoy most about Mizzou is the quality of the people I’m around on a daily basis. I’m a firm believer that it’s not where you are, or what you’re doing, but who you’re with that really matters. The overwhelming majority of those I’ve come into contact within the law school have been nothing but helpful, personable, and pleasant to be around. If you have any questions at all, let me know, and I’d be happy to do my best to answer them.
