Tennessee State University
Hello all! I am Demetria Dailey and I am a 2L here at Mizzou Law. I am from Jackson, Tennessee—born and raised. I attended Tennessee State University, “the land of golden sunshine,” in Nashville, TN. So at times I refer to Nashville as my second home. In 2009, I received a Bachelors in Criminal Justice (Psychology minor) from TSU.
After undergrad, I decided to work in order to gain experience and prepare for the LSAT. Although not my initial intentions, that time off turned into six years. During that time I worked as a Family Advocate for Head Start, a Safety Examiner for the State of Tennessee, and a Substitute Teacher for the school system in my hometown.
I was truly grateful for each of those jobs, and each taught me skills that remain applicable today. However, I knew that I would not be satisfied until I completed law school. So in 2014 I got back on track and began to seriously prepare for law school.
I began looking into Mizzou after first hearing some amazing things from some acquaintances who had spoken with the admissions staff. I decided to do some research and I was interested immediately. Honestly, I chose Mizzou after the two calls I received just days after applying. Over the phone, I could feel the genuine care and concern that has remained true since beginning here at Mizzou.
Coming to the University of Missouri has given me the opportunity to meet some new people, as well as experience some fun things in just a short amount of time. I look forward to many experiences and memories that will last a lifetime.
