Biochemistry & Biotechnology

Hi, everyone! My name is Dylan Blumenthal and I am currently a 1L here at Mizzou Law. I graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry & Biotechnology from the University of Missouri—St. Louis (UMSL) and worked for the next three years in plant biotechnology at a non-profit research institute in St. Louis. After this, I worked as a research tech. in a lab at Washington University School of Medicine while earning a M.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology from UMSL.

I was exposed to the concept of patent law while working in science, and immediately became intrigued by the idea that scientist-inventors need attorneys that understand both science and the law to help protect their work. Fast-forward a few years and here I am in law school!

I chose Mizzou Law for many reasons, but ultimately because of the ample resources available here. From first-rate professors with extensive legal experience to a wide variety of student organizations, Mizzou Law is unparalleled in the opportunities and atmosphere it provides to students. In addition to my legal studies, I participate in a few student organizations and am the secretary for MU Lambda Legal Society, the law school’s LGBT-ally group.

Law school can be challenging at times, so being in a supportive environment can make all the difference. I am so glad that I chose Mizzou Law because (although I had never been to Columbia before) it feels like home. If you have any questions about me, the law school, or anything related to the admissions process, let’s chat! And if you have the opportunity, come visit us!
