Loyola University Chicago
Hi! I’m a 2L from Sikeston, MO. My path to Mizzou was non-traditional. After graduating from Loyola University Chicago in December 2012, I was employed by a boutique-recruiting firm, Burtch Works, in the windy city for two and a half years. One of my many responsibilities while at Burtch Works was drafting contracts for our clients and negotiating the terms of those agreements. Specifically my exposure to internal and external hiring processes sparked an interest in employment law.
After I visited Mizzou Law, it was clear that the law school was a smaller, welcoming community within the larger university. I was impressed with just how personal the admissions process was and truly felt like a valuable addition to the Class of 2018 from the moment I was accepted. On the same note, living in Columbia has been an easier-than-expected adjustment from life in the big city. Downtown is vibrant and people are both diverse and open-minded.
Perhaps the most important thing I learned in the recruiting industry is the value of networking. At Mizzou Law, the network of alumni is well established throughout the entire state of Missouri. I’m confident that I’ve chosen the right place to embark on a long-term professional career.
If you have any questions about the admissions process, life as a 1L, or just want some networking tips, I’d love to hear from you!
