Hey! My name is Jonathan Ence and I am currently a 1L. I grew up in Salem, Utah and I attended Brigham Young University where I received my undergraduate degree in Latin American Studies. After my freshman year at BYU, I spent two years in Mexico as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where I learned Spanish and how to do my laundry with a “chaca chaca”—a broomstick with the top half of a Coke bottle screwed on. While a student, I worked for a year with the Peruvian government and spent a summer down in Peru, where I watched a horse get run over by a train.

My attendance here at Mizzou Law is rather serendipitous. It is a long story that I would invite you to ask me about. In a nutshell, when I visited the campus, though I had never been to Columbia in my life, I felt like I was at home. There is an environment here that you will not find anywhere else. This school genuinely cares about its students and that is reflected in the camaraderie among the student body.

Fun facts: I can quote Hot Rod better than you and all of your friends combined, I love Halo Top ice cream, philosophy, and singing along to Dashboard Confessional. Hope to see you here next Fall!
