Hello future esquires, my name is Joseph Dumas. I am a current 3L from Birmingham, AL. I graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Political Science. It has always been my dream to be a lawyer. After receiving not so great scores on my LSAT while in undergrad, I went to work for AmeriCorps and became a first grade reading teacher and a third grade enrichment specialist. When I improved my scores and knew I was finally going to make my dream come true, I could not be more excited that Mizzou Law was the perfect fit for me. The reason why I came to Mizzou for my legal education is that I knew I wanted to come to a school where I felt as if I could really learn the law and have a faculty that cares about me as a person and would want to see me succeed.
Since being here at Mizzou Law, my intuition has been right. The professors are hands on and are welcome to help me with any problems I may have. I have not regretted my decision one bit since walking into the doors of Hulston Hall. Columbia is a great city and sports town. Another great reason to come to Mizzou Law is because even outside of the law school, there is real sense of community at Mizzou. With Mizzou being in the SEC (Southeastern Conference), the atmosphere on Saturdays during football season as well as at the other sporting events is so much fun. If you want a prestigious and affordable start to your legal education then Mizzou Law is the place for you. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns as you begin your journey to law school. Go Tigers!
