University of Hawaii at Manoa

Hello all! My name is Michel Trapasso and I am currently a 3L here at Mizzou Law.  I grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii, where my family has lived for 15 years. Prior to that we lived in Atlanta, Georgia and Tampa, Florida. In 2015 I graduated from the University of Hawaii with a BA in History.

Making a decision about where to go to law school is one of the most important decisions you will make.  You want to find a place with great people who will help you thrive academically, while also preparing you for life beyond the classroom. For me, that place is Mizzou.

When I was a Junior in High School I took an American Justice class, and that made me realize that I wanted to go to law school. When it came time to take the LSAT and start applying to places, I was originally not even considering Mizzou. But when I was visiting family in St. Louis over Christmas break, I drove to Columbia and took a tour of the law school. I immediately realized this was the place for me.

Part of the reason I came to Mizzou is our reputation in the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution (arbitration, mediation, negotiation, etc.). We have the Center for the Study of Dispute Resolution and the Journal of Dispute Resolution, both of which were the first of their kind. My goal is to use my law degree to work in professional sports, and alternative dispute resolution is very prevalent in that field.

At Mizzou Law, the professors make an effort to get to know the students as people, and they are invested in your success. If you want your law school experience to be the best it can be, and if you want a place that will allow you to thrive inside and outside of the classroom, Mizzou is the place for you. Come join us!
