Criminal Justice & Psychology

Hello everyone! My name is Valerie Kimball and I am currently a 3L at Mizzou Law. I have moved around quite a bit, but ended up earning my Bachelor of Science degree in both Criminal Justice and Psychology at Central Methodist University in Fayette, MO in 2015.

I have always been interested in law school but have considered other career options. However, I have always found my way back to law school. I worked at a law firm during undergrad and saw the impact the attorney made in the community. No matter the case, he wanted to help and that passion helped solidify that law school was the correct path for me. Because I moved around, I did not have any ideas of where to attend. I applied to a few different schools but after taking the tour of Mizzou Law, I know this was the school for me.

I have grown up in smaller towns and so I wanted to go to a school where I was not just a number. Here, the professors take an active role in your life, both academically and professionally. They care whether you understand the material and that is rare. Touring the school also gave me the sense of community that I did not get from other schools. There are not enough great things that I can say about Mizzou Law.

Yes, law school is difficult and it is unlike anything I have ever done before, but you are not on the journey alone and everyone, students, staff, and faculty, will be here for you along the way which makes the experience much easier. If you have any questions or if there is any way I can help make your transition easier, please do not hesitate to contact me!
