The National Academy of Arbitrators invites you to attend its 2017 Annual Meeting in  CHICAGO May 24-27, 2017 Fairmont Chicago, Millennium Park.

Please join us!

The opening plenary on “The Emerging Gig Economy: What Are the Rules?” features Bernard Fishbein, Chair of the Ontario Labour Relations Board, and NLRB General Counsel Richard F. Griffin, Jr.  comparing and contrasting the approaches our two countries are taking to the rapid changes in the new world of work. Our distinguished speaker will be David Weil, author of “The Fissured Workplace: Why Work Became So Bad for So Many and What Can Be Done to Improve It” and former head of the Labor Department’s Wage and Hour Division in the Obama administration.

Technology now allows employers to monitor employees, on and off duty, and anyone on the street to record public behavior, with implications for discipline. The validity of electronic and video evidence may be challenged, and innovative remedies provided. These topics and more will be discussed by an array of experts.

The conference also includes social events for NAA members, non-member neutrals, and advocates to meet in informal, conversational settings.

Informational brochures with detailed topic descriptions, speakers and registration materials are available on the “Upcoming Meetings” page on the NAA’s website at www.naarb.org.  The NAA’s Operations Center is also available to assist you at (607) 756-8363.
