West Academic has published Professor Doug Abrams’ newest book, Effective Legal Writing: A Guide for Students and Practitioners.
This is the sixth book that Professor Abrams has written or co-written. His first book was The Law of Civil RICO (Aspen 1991). West Academic recently published the fifth editions of his casebook, Children and the Law: Doctrine, Policy and Practice (co-author), and his Children and the Law In a Nutshell (co-author). His other West casebook, Contemporary Family Law, is in its fourth edition (co-author).
In 2003, Professor Abrams wrote A Very Special Place in Life: The History of Juvenile Justice in Missouri, which one reviewer has called “a comprehensive, highly readable history” marked by “skillful writing.”
With royalties from the two West Academic casebooks, Professor Abrams created the Happiness For Health program, a permanent endowment that provides toys, stuffed animals, and games for sick and injured children at the University of Missouri Children’s Hospital. The program also provides parties for children hospitalized on their birthdays and other special occasions.
