Professor Bowman Explains How Firing Mueller Affects Grand Jury’s Power

February 16th, 2018

Prof. Frank Bowman

In a recent piece in Politico Magazine, Professor Frank Bowman explains why the grand jury empaneled to investigate the Trump-Russia connection could not continue its work if special counsel Robert Mueller is fired. He follows this up with a blog post on Impeachable Offenses. His piece responds to an earlier Politico article written by law professors David Yassky and Bennett Gershman that contends that without a prosecutor the grand jury could still continue its investigation and produce indictments. Professor Bowman provides legal and practical reasons for why this could not happen.
