Uber, Lyft driver suspended for videos: Dean Lidsky comments

August 3rd, 2018

In the KOMU-TV story, “Uber, Lyft suspend driver who recorded St. Louis passengers,” Dean Lyrissa Lidsky commented that in Missouri, it is “not, technically, illegal” to record these passengers since this is a one-party consent state. However, she added, “I think from the outrage that this case is generating you can see that the average person does not expect to be filmed and live-streamed to the world while they’re in the back of a cab.”

Dean Lidsky is a First Amendment scholar, with an emphasis on defamation and other free speech issues in social media contexts.
