“Managing Natural Disaster Risk:” Professor Jerry Speaks to Oregon Division of Financial Regulation

Professor Bob Jerry spoke to the staff of the Oregon Division of Financial Regulation on December 11 on the topic of “Managing Natural Disaster Risk.”

Professor Jerry’s article of the same title, which was based on a presentation he gave at Texas A&M University School of Law in April, is forthcoming in the Texas A&M Law Review in 2019. In this paper, Professor Jerry discusses the increasing frequency, intensity and costs of natural disasters; the history of national preparedness policy for these events; the current federal framework for catastrophe risk management; and the complex intersection of disaster preparation, response and recovery strategies.
