Prof. Abrams Writes About Sports for Children With Disabilities, and About Countering Fans’ Verbal Bigotry During School Games

Since 2011, Professor Douglas E. Abrams has written nearly 250 essays on New York-based, one of the nation’s leading youth sports websites. Several of these essays – including his two most recent ones – concern societal issues in sports.

The first recent essay, Trends in Sports: Giving ALL Kids a Chance to Participate and Have Fun, explains how youth sports programs can provide equal opportunity for children with disabilities.  The second essay, Taunting at Sporting Events: How to Empower the Athletes to Put a Stop to It,  presents a way for a team’s players themselves to counter fans’ bigoted slurs and insults during school games.
