The MU Graduate Professional Council selected Professor Larry Dessem for the 2018 Gold Chalk Award, that recognizes university faculty members “who have made significant contributions to the education and training of graduate and professional students,” according to the award’s website. George Brand, 2L nominated Dessem, with supporting letters from two Mizzou Law alumnae.

The award is one of four presented by the MU Graduate Professional Council. One faculty member from the university’s professional schools — law, medicine and veterinary — is selected. The three other awards recognize faculty members from the humanities and fine arts, natural and mathematical sciences, and social and behavioral sciences.

The award was presented at the Graduate Awards Banquet on April 25.
