Professor English Leads Task Force to Revise Adult Guardianship Laws in Missouri

Professor David M. English co-chaired a task force that proposed a revision of Missouri’s adult guardianship laws, recently passed by the Missouri Legislature and signed by the governor.

Senate Bill 806 is the first comprehensive revision of Missouri’s adult guardianship laws since 1983. The bill is a substantial enactment of  the proposed revision prepared by Mo-WINGS (Missouri Interdisciplinary Network of Guardianship Stakeholders), a 50-member task force of which Professor English is the co-chair and principal drafter.

Professor English adds that the project would not have succeeded without drafting and/or research assistance from the following former students: Matt Aiazzi, ’12, Jessica Rooks, ’12, Jacquelyn Brazas, ’12, Rachel Harris, ’13, Alice Haseltine, ’15, Jason Jacoby, ’16, Alison Tungate Mikulecky, ’15, and Kirsten Dunham, ’15. Also, 3L Annie Ebert is assisting with educational efforts on the new law.
