Professor Henson presenting at Kansas City CLE

Professor Chuck Henson is among a group of eight presenters for a day-long CLE program hosted by the Jackson County Bar Association on February 26. “Justice and the Law” is a Black History Month Program that features themes from the movie “Just Mercy.” Those attending for the full day can earn 7.0 CLE credits.

Professor Henson will discuss implicit bias and the problem of self-reporting. He will reflect on the works of sociologists and clinical psychologists like Artie Russell Hochschild, Banji and Greenwald and Daniel Kahneman, and their revelations of how our hidden beliefs or blind spots, work and create questions about our accuracy when we talk about our own biases.

Carla Barksdale, ’92, also will be on the program. She owns and operates Corporate Integrity Systems, LLC, which provides personnel solutions to large and small businesses. She and Rep. Barbara Washington (BJ ’95) will address criminal justice reform and law enforcement oversight at the state and local level. They will lead a discussion regarding legislative priorities for the Kansas City area.
