Professor Niemann to Speak at Reynolds Journalism Institute

Professor Jim Niemann will teach the seminar “Legal Pointers for Entrepreneurs: Ignorance of the Law is no Defense,” at the MU Reynolds Journalism Institute (RJI) to help students prepare for the 2017-2018 RJI Student Competition.

Professor Niemann’s seminar will teach students how to navigate the legal considerations that startups face. The seminar will cover several issues, including co-founder agreements, types of business entities, contracting and employment issues, and protection of intellectual property.

The seminar will be held in the Smith Forum in the Reynolds Journalism Institute on January 30, 2018. It will be open to MU students and the public.

The RJI Student Competition is an annual student competition to provide solutions at the intersection of journalism and technology. The competition is open to journalism, engineering and business students at the University of Missouri. This year student competitors may address any issue facing the news media, including audience engagement, news productivity and accuracy.
