Professor S.I. Strong recently traveled to Vienna, Austria, to participate in an expert working group convened by the Secretariat of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) to review and, if appropriate, revise the UNCITRAL Rules on Conciliation and draft Guidance Notes on organizing mediation proceedings.

This work follows UNCITRAL’s recent adoption of a revised version of the Model Law on Mediation and the finalization of the UN Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation, known as the Singapore Convention.  Professor Strong will be joining an international group of experts to ensure that the UNCITRAL Rules on Conciliation and accompanying Notes take account of practice and are fit for use in all parts of the world.
