Professor Amy J. Schmitz has been selected as an External Scientific Fellow of the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for International, European and Regulatory Procedural Law. It is the first Max Planck Institute on legal matters outside the German borders, and is dedicated to academic excellence and higher education in the area of procedural law. The selected fellows include professors from Yale University, the Sorbonne Law School, University of Barcelona, and elsewhere who will explore various aspects of international procedural law. For her part, Professor Schmitz will research developments in Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) related to the ODR Regulation in the European Union, and engage in discussions regarding best practices for using technology to expand access to justice throughout the world. Collaborations among the fellows should establish a continuous and productive dialogue in cooperation with the faculty of law of the University of Luxembourg.
